Lexington One Robotics Team Summer Camp

Attend our Summer Camp!

Apply to attend the 2017 VEX Robotics Team Camp – Please complete this online form to register to attend our summer camp which is intended for new and returning 2017-2018 VEX Robotics Team members. This camp will be an opportunity to get a jumpstart on this year's competition. You'll work in teams to design and build your competition robot, as well as attend workshops to increase your design, building and programming skills.

Participants will be expected to pay their 2017-2018 VEX Robotics Team dues prior to attending the camp. Dues for the 2017-2018 school year will be $50 (this year's increase is due to the increased costs incurred from VEX for registering a team). Dues include team registration, first competition registration (travel costs not included) and a team shirt.

What?

Lexington School District One will be continuing our district-wide VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) team this year. You can learn more about VRC here: http://www.vexrobotics.com/vexedr/competition

Who?

The LCSD1 VRC team will be open to all high school students in the district. Students are not required to attend LTC to be on a robotics team.

Where?

All team practices and meetings will be held at LTC. Students will be required to secure transportation to and from the meetings. Meeting times will be discussed at the Fall meeting.

When?

The robotics team will host a Kick-Off Meeting on August 30th from 4:00-5:00pm at LTC. The team will meet throughout the entire school year. Practice Rounds and Tournaments are throughout the Fall semester. Qualifying Tournaments and Championships are throughout the Spring semester.

Family Code Night

When & Where?

Family Code Night is on December 5th from 6:00–8:00pm at Lexington Technology Center (2421 Augusta Highway, Lexington, SC 29072). 

Details:

Remember, each child should bring an adult family member or friend to be their coding partner! Adult partners are encouraged to “pair program” together with their child partner, so they too can learn to code! All children must remain under the direct supervision of an adult parent/partner at all times.

Only registered participants can attend this event. Please do not bring additional adults or children that were not included in your registration.

Parking, Entrance & Sign-In:

Please park in the parking lot between Lexington Technology Center and Lexington High School. Please enter LTC through the covered breezeway entrance. Please have one adult representative from your family visit the sign-in table to pick-up your event materials.

Bring?

If you have a district-issued iPad, please bring it along. If you do not have an iPad, no worries. Personal devices will not be allowed to connect to any robots or the school internet. Computers and/or iPads will be provided at all workshops unless noted.

Join us for a fun night!

Come enjoy learning how to code games and robots together as a family. Each child should bring a family member or friend to be their coding partner!

Event Activities

There will be two different activities at Family Code Night for partner pairs to enjoy:

Exhibitor and Coding Showcase
Stop by a variety of booths in the multipurpose room to get hands-on experience with mBots, BeeBots, littlebits, LEGO robots, play dough circuits, 3D printing, and more!

Each partner pair will receive one workshop ticket to attend either a 6:00 or 7:00 workshop.
  • 6:00 to 6:50pm Workshops Session #1
  • 7:00 to 7:50pm Workshops Session #2
Workshops are on a first-come, first-serve capacity and will allow up to 30 attendees (15 adult/child pairs). Please note that there may not be chairs for all of the children.

Join LTC at the Global Cardboard Challenge

The Global Cardboard Challenge is an annual initiative of the Imagination Foundation. Inspired by the short file, "Caine's Arcade," the Cardboard Challenge is a worldwide celebration of child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it. We invite kids to design and build awesome creations using cardboard, recycled materials and imagination to raise money to support local charities.

LTC House for Sale

Every school year, students in the LTC Building Construction program build a 1700 sq ft home from start to finish. Students complete all aspects of the buildout including framing, drywall, custom built cabinetry and more. Each summer the home is auctioned to raise funds to support the program and fund the next home for next school year.

About the Home

  • 1700 square foot (open living)
  • Split floor plan – master on one side and 2 bedrooms on the other side
  • Kitchen includes: stove, microwave range hood, refrigerator and dishwasher
  • Primed walls
  • Energy windows and doors
  • Includes all plumbing and electric
  • Does not include HVAC or hot water heater
